Tottenham Hotspur fans won’t have expected to see one image on Saturday: Moussa Sissoko celebrating a goal!
The France international went through the entirety of the 2018/19 campaign without hitting the back of the net, having scored just once the season prior.
But he ended that drought on Saturday against AFC Bournemouth as Jose Mourinho’s men won 3-2 in north London.
With the scores at 2-0, Sissoko powered his way into the box to meet Son Heung-Min’s teasing cross and hooked a volley into the bottom corner, leading to rapturous applause from the home faithful.
Naturally, Sissoko was mobbed by his team-mates, with Serge Aurier the first to congratulate him.
The picture above shows the aftermath of those celebrations, with Harry Kane, Davinson Sanchez and Tanguy Ndombele making their way back to their positions as Sissoko acknowledges the crowd.
The goal comes just a week after Mourinho suggested that the midfielder’s playing style did not suit his needs.
It remains to be seen if that will stay the case, particularly if Sissoko can keep up this goalscoring form.
