Swansea City manager Paul Clement has confirmed that summer signing Renato Sanches is likely to make his debut against Newcastle United on Sunday.
What’s the news?
The Welsh club arguably pulled off the coup of the transfer window by bringing in the Bayern Munich midfielder on a season-long loan.
Liverpool and Manchester United had been among the clubs linked to his signature in the rumour mill, but Clement’s contacts at Bayern paid off.
Sanches is now set to make his debut, but it is unknown whether he will be named in the starting XI at the Liberty Stadium or on the bench.
Not only is the Portugal Euro 2016 winner expected to play, deadline-day signing Wilfried Bony will also be involved.
How can the pair boost Swansea?
Sanches may not have the best scoring record having failed to find the back of the net in 25 outings for Bayern last season, but his passing is crucial.
The 20-year-old is comfortable playing long passes, as well as short exchanges and he has also successfully chipped balls into the box to create scoring opportunities.
Sanches is a positive player as he always looks to play forward, and his pace is sure to provide problems for the opposition.
If Bony is also thrown into the mix, Swansea will be seen as favourites against the Magpies, as his scoring record for the Welsh outfit is not one to be sniffed at.
The Ivorian scored 34 goals in 70 appearances before he left the Swans in 2015 to join Manchester City in an unsuccessful two-year spell.
Bony will be determined to hit the ground running and the overwhelming support that he has from the fans will only increase his confidence.
