According to a new exclusive report coming from Alfredo Pedulla, Milan have made strides towards signing Erling Braut Haaland and are even offering him a huge contract to seal the deal.
What’s the word, then?
Haaland is undoubtedly one of the most coveted youngsters in world football at the moment.
The 19-year-old forward is wanted by the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, some German teams like Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig and now the Rossoneri as well, as per the aforementioned journalist.
Pedulla also emphasises that Milan have the money necessary to get this deal over the line and are offering a mega-contract worth €5.5m-a-year (£4.6m-a-year) in a five-year deal that would see the youngster earn €27.5m (£23.4m) when everything is said and done.
With the money and even more importantly, a better position in the squad for Haaland, the Italians just might do the impossible and win the race for the coveted youngster. And interestingly enough, a slight adaption of systems at the San Siro could help him thrive there.
Two up front
At first, it would seem like Milan are really in no position to trade punches with the likes of Manchester United or Borussia Dortmund but they have something the other giants are missing – they can offer Haaland an immediate path to stardom and a system that suits his preferences.
Quite clearly, this huge contract would make the young Norwegian one of the best-paid players at the club, not to mention that he would most likely slot right into their frontline and if his current pedigree is anything to go by, remain there with little to no competition.
After all, he has already tallied 28 goals in just 22 games in 2019/20 while Milan’s two best goal-scorers in Serie A, Krzysztof Piatek and Theo Hernandez, have eight between them.
He’s a football superstar, but how much do you really know about Paul Pogba? Test your knowledge below…
The Rossoneri mostly deploy their troops in a system that place one striker up front, but they have also been known to utilise formations with a strike duo in the forward line which would likely see Haaland slot next to Piatek on the pitch.
The 19-year-old is very much used to such a setup since RB Salzburg mostly play with two strikers leading the line and clearly – seeing Haaland’s goal tally – this is working rather well so far.
Perhaps it would be a slight risk for Milan to change their preference and try switching permanently to a system that accommodates two strikers, but just the idea of having both the Norweigan prodigy and Piatek together does have a nice ring to it.
And who knows, maybe they need a bit of bravery in their approach to take them out of the slump and the mid-table position they found themselves in at the moment.
In other news, many Spurs fans reacted as one of their players have now officially extended their contract…
