Championship leaders Leeds United should offer experienced forward Giuseppe Rossi a contract until the end of the 2018-19 campaign.
What’s the word, then?
Rossi is currently in England training with former club Manchester United.
The 31-year-old is available on a free having left Genoa at the end of last season and is seemingly keen to continue his career in English football.
United interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer invited Rossi to train with United as he builds up his fitness ahead of potentially securing a new club.
Speaking after United’s 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, Solskjaer urged interested parties to ‘be quick’ as Rossi has been impressing in training.
And with that in mind, Leeds should swoop for the 30-time Italy international, who could prove to be a hit in the Championship in the second half of the campaign.
Why should Leeds make a move?
Rossi has been injured for a quarter of his 14-year career as a footballer, but the forward still has time on his side and there is a very good player in there.
Rossi’s time in the sport has been seriously harmed by a succession of knee injuries and he has been unable to build on the promise that he showed at United.
Rossi’s best spell came at Villarreal between 2007 and 2013, where he managed 82 goals in 192 appearances for the Yellow Submarine.
The Italian also had a very impressive scoring record at Fiorentina – 19 in 42 appearances – when considering that he again struggled with injury.

Last term, Rossi only managed one goal in 10 matches for Genoa, but is now seemingly ready to step back onto the field once again.
Leeds are the favourites to win the Championship this term and a mid-season swoop for Rossi could turn out to be a stroke of genius by head coach Marcelo Bielsa.
