Since suffering a horrific broken leg in September 2015, Luke Shaw has struggled to establish himself as a key player in Manchester United’s team.
Under manager Jose Mourinho, the left-back has spent the majority of his time at Old Trafford either on the substitutes bench or out of the squad completely.
Injuries have played a part, but Shaw’s fitness issues and alleged lack of commitment and drive have led to suggestions that his time at United is nearing an end.
At times, Mourinho has not held back in his public criticism of the England international, who has made just two substitute appearances this season – both of which were in the Carabao Cup.
Ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League Group A game against CSKA Moscow, Mourinho claimed that Shaw will be in the squad, but has refused to confirm whether or not the left-back will start.
United will only fail to make the last 16 if they lose by six goals or more.
