Barcelona and Pep Guardiola are a well-known love story in football.
Back when he was in charge of the Blaugrana, Guardiola went through the best years of his career as a manager as he practically won everything on offer while playing a supremely attractive brand of football.
But now that already feels like a distant memory, and since then he’s been the head coach of both Bayern Munich and Manchester City.
Still, things are not really rosy back at the Etihad and with the team being third in the Premier League table with a hefty gap between them and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, the Citizens are reportedly already thinking about the future without the Catalan coach.
And interestingly enough, as if it was orchestrated that way, Barcelona’s president Jose Maria Bartomeu recently spoke to La Repubblica and talked about a variety of topics, one of which was Guardiola and his potential return to the Catalan capital.
He said, as quoted by Express:
“It doesn’t depend on me. It was Pep who decided to leave, but the door will always be open for him at Barca.”
The timing of these two reports is pertinent to say the least and even though Ernesto Valverde is still very much at the helm of Barcelona, that doesn’t mean things couldn’t change in the near future.

With Guardiola also on the crossroads of his career back in England, it feels like the door truly is open for his potential return.
Even his father stated not so long ago that he could indeed come back one day, and he would arrive in the role of a coach.
Maybe the return of the king really could be on the cards.
It no longer looks like a stretch but only time will tell what Pep decides to do with his future.
Elsewhere, Real Madrid are reportedly ready to sacrifice a young player from their squad in order to land Arsenal’s gunman…
